Peace advocates advise government peace chairman to be calm

-

Clerics and peace advocates in Central Mindanao have advised the new chairman of the government's ceasefire committee to be cool-headed at all times and to reach out to leaders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front as if they were "blood brothers" for him to be efficient as his predecessor.

The chairman of the government's Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities, Major Gen. Edgardo Gurrea, retired from the military services and turned over his his duties to Brig. Gen. Reynaldo Sealana.

Peace advocates, among them missionaries of the Vatican-based Oblates of Mary Immaculate, have advised Seleana to continue the legacy of Gurrea who is known for his diplomatic initiatives in solving security problems in many areas covered by the ceasefire in Mindanao.  John Unson
