JDV says Charter change to be discussed with GMA

-

House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. today said that while he may support the move for the country to shift to a federal form of government, he is not inclined to renew talks on the change of political structure within the year.

De Venecia issued the statement during the centennial anniversary of the inauguration of the First Philippine Assembly at the Old Ayuntamiento Building in Intramuros, Manila.

The Speaker also said that he has to discuss the matter with President Arroyo to determine "parameters of the proposal" that include information that needs to be clarified, proposed  time table and mode of action.

Yesterday, Mrs. Arroyo announced her plans to push for a federal form of goverment  but critics question the timing as she faces another impeachment complaint from the House.
