4 injured in acetylene blast

COTABATO CITY – Four people were badly injured when an acetylene tank exploded in a car shop at a residential area here.

Investigators said the victims, Roel Cawaling, who is the owner of the Solar Automotive Shop, and his customers, Mohmina Sultan, Monera Singkang, Puwela Monsor, sustained shrapnel wounds in different parts of their bodies and are now undergoing medication at a local hospital.

The victims were having their vehicles fixed when a burning metal fragment from two ends of a muffler pipe being welded with an electric arch welder by a worker landed on a hose of a welding torch attached to an acetylene tank, causing the explosion.
