Chinese firm ZTE asks Supreme Court to lift TRO

Lawyers of the Chinese firm ZTE Corp. have asked the Supreme Court on Thursday to lift their temporary restraining order on the implementation of the US$329 million National Broadband Network deal with the Philippine government.

Likewise, in its urgent omnibus motion, the Chinese state-run company asked the high court to compel Iloilo Vice Governor Rolex Suplico to post a bond worth US$3 million to force the public official to pay them damages caused by his petition against them.

Suplico had earlier filed the petition asking the SC to void the NBN contract because of its legality.  The SC had issued the TRO last September 11.
