Former President Joseph Estrada made his scheduled visit Friday to his ailing mother, 102- year old Doña Mary Ejercito, who is currently confined at the San Juan Medical Center.
Estrada, who is reportedly suffering from the flu, was brought by the police to the hospital from his rest house in Tanay, Rizal around 10 a.m.
Estrada had been allowed to stay at the hospital until 5 p.m. of the same day and immediately return to his place of detention in Tanay.
The former president was supposed to have left around 7 a.m. but was delayed due to his flue.
In a two-page resolution dated Aug. 20, 2007, the anti-graft court granted Estrada’s urgent motion for permission to visit his mother who is confined in hospital.
Both the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the PNP did not object to Estrada’s request to visit his mother, the Sandiganbayan said in its resolution.
