MILF faction tagged in foiled attack

KORONADAL CITY – Police tagged the special operations group of a breakaway faction of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in the foiled bomb attack in nearby Tacurong City last Friday.

Superintendent Joel Limson, Tacurong police chief, said the arrested suspect, Badrudin Guiasilon Tapid, admitted being a member of the MILF faction based in the Liguasan Marsh in Maguindanao.

Tapid’s arrest led to the discovery of a remote-controlled bomb fashioned from a 61-mm mortar as well as three other 61-mm mortars, batteries and other materials for improvised explosives, Limson said. – Ramil Bajo
