CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Three siblings aged two to 12 were killed in a fire that engulfed their shanty in Lucena City, Quezon Tuesday night, authorities said.SPO3 Ruben Almezan, a Lucena City police investigator, identified the fatalities as Isabela Joy Rabino, 12, and her siblings Romelyn, seven, and John Philip, two.
Almezan said the children died while being treated of their burns at the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena.
Police said the three children were trapped inside their shanty when the fire, caused by an unattended kerosene lamp, broke out at around 9:15 p.m. while their mother, Virginia, was out to buy bread.
Virginia suffered minor burns as she struggled to bring her children out of their burning shanty.
