YBL exec gets threats after union leader’s abduction

- Ramil Bajo -

Koronadal City — An executive of the Yellow Bus Line (YBL) Co. has been getting threatening cellphone text messages.

Olimpio Par, operations manager of the YBL, said the text messages accused him of masterminding the abduction of Jimmy Rosios, the board of director of the YBL workers’ union.

The unknown sender’s number is 0920-3067685, according to Par.

Rosios was snatched at around 6:45 p.m. in a dimly-lit portion of the YBL garage, some two kilometers away from the company’s passenger terminal, which was bombed by the Al-Khobar extortion gang last August 3, killing a preacher and injuring 12 other persons.

Police said Rosios was urinating when an unlicensed Tamaraw FX stopped in front of him and three men brandishing Armalite rifles alighted and forcibly dragged him inside the van.

Witnesses said the van sped off toward General Santos City highway.

“Mr. Par ang nangyaring yan ay pina-akyat na namin sa (that incident has been reported to the) Front 71 Kangaroo Court at pag napatunayan namin mag-ingat ka na lang (and if we prove it, take precaution),” the sender said in his message to Par yesterday.

Par urged the message sender to stop sending threats. He said he started receiving the threats a day after Rosios was abducted.

Rosios was the second person abducted in this city. A Central Mindanao coordinator of the militant party-list group Bayan Muna  was snatched earlier by armed men sporting  military haircuts and suspected to be government intelligence agents.
