3 traders slain in Southern Tagalog

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Three traders, including a relative of a retired police general, were killed in separate incidents in Cavite, Laguna and Batangas last week, reports said.

Reports said most of the attackers were riding in tandem on motorcycles, armed with caliber .45 pistols and wearing ski masks.

One of the victims was a certain Armado Pureza, 45, a relative of retired police general Rogelio Pureza, who was shot dead in Rosario, Cavite last Thursday.

In Biñan, Laguna, two ski mask-wearing men robbed and killed businesswoman Melanie Ullano, 49, last July 31, police said.

Meanwhile, Batangas businessman Rodolfo Catibog, 62, was shot several times while he was walking on his way home in Barangay Poblacion, San Pascual town last Friday afternoon.

Police were still clueless on the three killings. The gunslaying of a wine shop owner and wounding of his son in Batangas last Wednesday night remain unsolved.  – Ed Amoroso
