BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya – The Diocese of Bayombong remained mum on the alleged misbehavior of Fr. Elmer Saludares, parish priest of St. Anne’s Parish in Dupax del Norte town, inside a videoke bar in nearby Bambang town last July 17.
Bayombong Bishop Ramon Villena, said to be dismayed over the matter, reportedly issued a ‘gag order’ on all priests regarding the incident.
“The diocese would be coming out with a statement on the issue,” said Fr. Ted Lazo of St. Dominic Parish.
Bambang police chief Inspector Avelino Cuntapay said his men went to the videoke bar after receiving calls about a drunk man who refused to pay the bill.
The person turned out to be Saludares, who entered the bar with two companions at around 1 a.m.
He left shortly after being ordered by the police to pay his bill.
When the priest and his friends left, Jenelyn Abello, the guest relations officer who entertained them, alleged that Saludares tried to kiss her and slapped her later.
Police confirmed a dialogue is being arranged for both parties, adding that if the allegations are proven, the priest could be charged with acts of lasciviousness and slight physical injuries.
