French newspaper reveals ending of Potter saga

-

PARIS (AFP) - A French newspaper broke the embargo on the new Harry Potter book Friday by revealing the fate of the principle characters.

Le Parisien printed a brief summary of the conclusion of "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows" -- but upside-down so that unwary readers could avoid the spoiler.

"Turn the page if you want to know the ending," it said.

Author J.K. Rowling has expressed her annoyance that the story is already circulating on the Internet and has been reviewed in US newspapers.

The New York Times revealed that at least half a dozen characters die in the book -- though it does not say which.

The book -- the seventh and last in the series -- goes on sale Saturday.
