Report: DFA confirms OFW death in Iraq

-

The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed Thursday that an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) was killed killed in Iraq last July 10, according to media reports.

The DFA identified the OFW as Cirilio Borgonia, 33, of Cebu.  Borgonia was reportedly killed in a mortar attack on Baghdad's heavily-fortified Green Zone last Tuesday night.

Borgonia's body has been brought to Kuwait and is scheduled for repatriation on Monday.

Three people were killed in the mortar attack and 25 others were wounded.

The Philippine government currently has a ban of deployment of Filipino workers to Iraq because of the security risks.
