Honasan to prefer being "constructive" instead of being "destructive"

-

Winning Senator Gregorio 'Gringo' Honasan said Tuesday that he would be more of a constructive lawmaker than a "destructive one working for the national interest."

Honasan said in an radio interview with DzMM that he would want to speed up the lawmaking process rather than conduct inquiries.

He said, "Less talk, more action. We spend so much time and money on debates, mudslinging, inquiries, committee hearings...it's too slow. The cycle of creating new laws is too slow for me."

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said yesterday that 10 of the 12 winners of a seat in the Senate will finally be known this week.   Honasan is currently ranked 10th  in the  Comelec's ongoing poll canvass.

The former military officer and ex-senator was prominent during the first EDSA People Power uprising.  He also led a number of coup attempts against then-president Corazon Aquino.

Earlier, Honasan was ordered arrested by the Makati City Regional Trial Court but was later allowed bail.
