CLARK FREEPORT – Officials of the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) disclosed yesterday that job opportunities continue to rise.

A report on Clark’s employment update was released on April 30.

CDC president Levy Laus  said that as of April this year, there were 49,151 workers in Clark, or an increase of 8,133 workers over the same period last year.

According to the Customer Service Department (CSD),  the figures came from 338 out of the 392 registered locators in Clark.

CSD reported that this year has been a very good year for CDC and to the people of Metro Clark Area, Pampanga, and its neighboring provinces because of the continuing increase of employment opportunities, he said.

Laus also said that an average of 677 workers per month (April 2006 to April 2007) were employed by different investors and locators in Clark.

The CDC president said the biggest job generator  inside Clark is the industrial sector. The biggest key players are the garment factories which contributed 14,402 workers as of last month. On the other hand, the electronic firms has generated 7,059 jobs.

The information technology sector generated 6,120 jobs, while the commercial sector generated 1,623 jobs.

Tourism grants generated 4,497 jobs while the other industrial sector and manufacturing firms  also provided some 4,865 job opportunities to various residents in Clark and its neighboring towns and provinces.

CDC remains to be one of the premier components President Arroyo’s job creation project which hopes to make Clark Freeport as the foremost business center in Asia, Laus said.
