Army man Ambushed in Lucena

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – An Army reservist was killed in an ambush by two motorcycle-riding men in Lucena City Monday night, police said.
Superintendent Hernando Zafra, Quezon police director, said 1Lt. Enrico Ibaan, a resident of Barangay Ilayang Iyam, Lucena City, was aboard his red Mazda pick-up when he was waylaid at the back of the Quezon National High School at around 8 p.m.
Ibaan, an Army intelligence operative, died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds from .45 caliber and 9-mm pistols.
Witnesses said the gunmen transferred to a waiting Kia Pride taxi with the marking "Bartolome" and fled toward Sariaya town. Police were still clueless on the killing. – Arnell Ozaeta
