COTABATO CITY – A passenger was killed while 30 others were injured when a jeepney turned turtle in an accident-prone stretch of the North Cotabato-Davao Highway in Kidapawan City the other day.
The Kidapawan police identified the fatality as Remuel Regalado, who died on the spot from serious head injuries.
Police investigators in Kidapawan City said jeepney driver Bernardino Rosario lost control of the vehicle when its brakes malfunctioned while he was maneuvering an uphill curve, causing the vehicle to wiggle and turn-turtle.
The injured passengers, among them children, were rushed to different hospitals in North Cotabato for treatment.
The victims, all related to each other, were on their way home to Isulan, Sultan Kudarat from a family reunion in Antipas, North Cotabato when they met the accident. – John Unson
