Guns, ammunition found in abandoned fishing boat

-
BALANGA CITY – Police operatives have discovered a cache of high-powered firearms and ammunition on an abandoned 20-foot fishing boat floating near the historic Bataan island of Corregidor in the coastal village of Lucanin, Mariveles town last Thursday.

Senior Superintendent Odelon Ramoneda, Bataan police director, told The STAR that joint elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Team (CIDT), led by Senior inspector Ruben Tampis, and 304th Police Mobile Group (PMG), headed by Chief inspector Rommel Velasco, found the arms cache in four plastic bags placed in Styrofoam boxes covered with chopped ice while conducting seaborne patrol.

An informant reportedly notified the police of the presence of a suspicious fishing boat being swept by strong waves to the coastline of Barangay Lucanin, Mariveles town, without passengers or fishermen on board. – Raffy Viray
