NPA rebels kill 2 Samar lawmen

TACLOBAN CITY – The entire regional police was placed under red alert following the killing of two police officers in an ambush by communist rebels in Calbayog City, Samar Friday night.
The slain policemen, PO3 Valeriano Valenzuela and PO1 Ramil Biso, together with two colleagues, were manning a checkpoint in Barangay Trinidad, 10 kilometers away from the city proper, when at least 10 New People’s Army (NPA) rebels attacked them, said Chief Superintendent Eliseo de la Paz, Eastern Visayas police director. – Miriam Garcia Desacada
