Ordinances on LPGs, Christmas lights in Dagupan cited

An informative drive was held to explain the mechanics in implementing the recently approved ordinances on LPGs and Christmas lights and other related products on January 26 at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall.

It was attended by LPG dealers, senior citizens, barangay officials, teachers, Engr. Guillermo Avelino Jr. of DTI, Atty. Beverly Milo of BIR, Sr. Insp. Romualdo Mina of the Bureau of Fire Protection and local residents of Dagupan.

Councilor Alex P. De Venecia, chairman of the committee on market, trade and industry, who principally authored these ordinances, cited the salient features of the ordinances which include the granting of 10 percent discount to senior citizens and elementary/high schools in Dagupan City>

Safety features of the LPG Ordinance are:
• All LPG must have color coding and with proper labels, especially the date of manufacture of the cylinder;
• Bureau of Fire Protection and Department of Trade and Industry confirmed that LPG tanks manufactured prior to 1996 are not allowed to be sold;
• LPG dealers/distributors must personally deliver, weigh and install LPG gas to the residents or place of business of the consumer;
• LPG dealers/distributors must automatically follow the Department of Energy instructions regarding the announcement in lowering the price of LPGs;
• LPG tanks could only be transported by the dealers/distributors in a especially equipped safety features in all the delivery trucks and all the tricycles. i.e. safety belts, wooden barriers, fire extinguisher and must carry with them weighing scales, exemption will be "if" transported by motorboat and "bancas" when the place of the consumer is not accessible by the land transportation.

Salient features of the Christmas lights regulation ordinance:
