Drugs, cash and guns seized in Ormoc raid

-
ORMOC CITY — More than P170,000 in cash, more than 70 grams of suspected shabu, a caliber .45 pistol, and a rifle grenade launcher were seized by operatives of the Philippine Drugs and Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Anti-illegal Drugs Task Force (AIDSOTF) in a raid here yesterday.

Senior Superintendent Manuel Cubillo, Philippine National Police (PNP) city director, identified the suspects as Mario Dumaguit, 43; Eduardo Asis, 29; and Samuel Cabibe, 41, all residents of Mabini St. here.

Raiding team member PO1 Edgar Homeres told The STAR that they received information that Dumaguit, an ex-convict, went back to selling illegal drugs and was said to be the biggest supplier in the area.

After several days of monitoring the activities of the suspect, they found out that the reports were true and they started conducting a thorough surveillance on the suspect.

The police presented the three suspects to City Mayor Eric Codilla after the raid. They were brought to the PNP Crime Lab in Kamp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte. Charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the anti-dangerous drug act of the Philippines are now being readied. — Roberto Dejon
