3 dead, 2 hurt as car hits pedestrians

TANAUAN CITY Three elderly persons were killed while two others were critically injured when a wayward car rammed into a group of pedestrians here Thursday night, police said.
Superintendent Francisco Rodriguez, city police chief, identified the fatalities as Maria Nido, 75; Hiloriana Fabro, 68; and Rodolfo Fabro, 70; and those seriously injured as Linda Nido, 45, a close relative of the three; and car driver Roderick Legasca.
Police said Legasca, who was with his nine-year-old son John Eric, was cruising Barangay Bilog-Bilog when he lost control of his Honda Civic and rammed it into the victims.
Bernejo said the two old women both died on the spot, while Fabro died in the hospital a few hours later.
Legascas son sustained bruises and contusions but was declared out of danger.
