Businesswoman shot by unidentified suspects

-
BALANGA CITY, Bataan — A 49-year-old businesswoman is now fighting for her life in a privately-run hospital here after she was shot in broad daylight by two motorcycle riding men inside her residence in the busy street of Barangay Ibayo, this city, yesterday morning.

Superintendent Sonny Miranda, Balanga City police director, who identified the trader as Josefina Banzon, owner of the Ronizza Lending Firm, was rushed by a tricycle driver and a bystander to Isaac & Catalina Medical Center for gunshot wounds in the nape and right breast.

The victim was picked up by witnesses while she slumped on the cemented floor.

According to Miranda, witnesses said about 30 minutes before the incident happened, the unidentified suspects riding on a motorcycle were seen casing the vicinity of the victim’s house. The victim’s lending shop is located near private educational institutions — the Asia Pacific College of Advanced Studies and Softnet College of Science and Technology.

Police theorized that the suspects knew the regular routine of the victim and looking for all angles including family dispute on the division of conjugal properties and business rivalry.

Neighbors heard three gunshots but only two bullets pierced through the left breast and nape of the victim. Police recovered three empty shells from a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.

The suspects escaped to an unknown direction when students of the two private colleges scampered to safety as they heard the gunshots.

Police operatives have been dispatched to track down the suspects believed to be hired killers. Police have yet to ascertain the motive behind the attempt on the life of Banzon. — Raffy Viray
