Fake drugs worth P.13 M confiscated

-
Operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently confiscated P130,000 worth of suspected fake drugs for erectile dysfunction and hypertension from 10 drugstores in Laguna and Batangas.

Jose Justo Yap, head agent of the NBI’s Intellectual Property Rights Division, said they seized 51 50-mg and 100 100-mg tablets of fake Viagra, and 46 5-mg and 20 10-mg tablets of fake Norvasc.

Viagra is prescribed for male erectile dysfunction, and Norvasc, for hypertension.

Yap said the raids were conducted after Pfizer, which manufactures Viagra and Norvasc, sought the NBI’s help through the Esguerra & Blanco Law Office. — Evelyn Macairan, Janeire Elomina
