LEGAZPI CITY Instead of going to Metro Manila for diagnosis and treatment of heart, lung and kidney diseases, Bicolanos can now avail themselves of state-of-the-art facilities with the inauguration of the Heart, Lung and Kidney Sub-Specialty Center at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital last Friday.
Dr. Criselda Abesamis, national health facility development director of the Department of Health (DOH), said heart, lung, and kidney diseases are the leading causes of sickness and death in the country.
Abesamis said the DOH entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Netherlands under the ORET (Ontwinkkelings Relevante Export Transacties) or Development Relevant Export Transaction program utilizing its official development aid to support the departments Health Sector Reform Agenda and the Philippine Hospital Development Plan.
