Trader shot dead inside Batangas KTV bar

BATANGAS CITY — A businessman was killed while one of his staff was hit by a stray bullet when two unidentified gunmen shot him inside his own karaoke bar in Barangay Cuta here early yesterday morning.

Superintendent Eduardo Sanque, Batangas City police chief, identified the victim as Edgar Dy, 45, the owner of Korakia KTV bar, Dayton Hardware and Korakia Dreaming Inn, all located in this city.

Wounded was Dy’s band singer Ellen Grace Cortez, 18, a member of the Dynamic Female Band. She sustained a wound on her right knee and is now being treated at St. Patrick Hospital here.

According to reports, two men wearing baseball caps approached Dy and shot him several times with a caliber .45 pistol at around 1:25 a.m.

After the shooting, the suspects fled on board a motorcycle.

Dy was rushed to Golden Gate Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival due to multiple gunshot wounds.

Police recovered seven slugs and three empty shells of a caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene.

SPO4 Danilo Magtibay, Batangas City PNP investigation chief, said they have yet to establish the motive for the killing.
