10-wheeler truck hijacked

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A 10-wheeler truck loaded with 500 bags of refined sugar was hijacked by armed men along the national highway in Barangay Iba, Meycauyan, Bulacan, over the weekend.

A belated report said the suspects, who were on board a L-300 Mitsubishi van without license plate, blocked the path of the cargo truck owned by Green Bolt Transport Service and driven by Teodoro Apurado. The vehicle was carrying items worth more than a million pesos and was bound for Laguna.

Three of the suspects alighted from the van and at gunpoint took the wheel while the driver and his two helpers were forcibly dragged into the van.

The victims then were blindfolded and later dumped in Barangay Lalakhian, Sta. Maria, Bulacan where they were rescued and assisted by barangay tanods, the report said.

Meanwhile, an air-conditioned passenger bus was held up by four gunmen along the North Luzon expressway in Balintawak Interchange last Sunday. The suspects announced the heist after the bus passed the Balintawak interchange and divested the passengers of cash, personal belongings and cellphones. — Ric Sapnu
