Improvised explosive found near camp hospital in Jolo

Soldiers discovered an improvised explosive at the vicinity of Camp Asturias Southcom Hospital in Jolo, Sulu last Sunday.

Army spokesman Maj. Ernesto Torres said members of the 34th Explosives and Ordnance Disposal Team together with bomb sniffing dogs discovered the improvised explosive packed in a plastic lunch box .

Torres said it contained TNT about two inches thick, which serves as explosive filler, ball bearings, printed electronic circuit board connected to a battery, a push-button switch cord, which serves as a triggering mechanism, three blasting caps and a 12-inch detonating cord.

Meawnhile, soldiers seized a sack containing assorted firearms and ammunition near a poultry farm in Barangay Look, Danao City last Saturday.

Reports said an unidentified man abandoned it after soldiers conducting combat patrol in the area questioned him of the contents of the sack. James Mananghaya
