Escudero’s uncle shot dead

LEGAZPI CITY — An uncle of opposition Rep. Francis Escudero was shot dead by two ski mask-wearing, motorcycle-riding men in Casiguran, Sorsogon last Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Senior Superintendent Joel Regondola, Sorsogon police director, said the victim, Danilo Hagosojos, 61, a retired public elementary school teacher, was driving his black motorcycle in Barangay San Antonio when he was attacked.

Regondola said Hagosojos, a cousin of the Sorsogon congressman’s father, former agriculture secretary Sonny Escudero, was shot twice, one in the head, with a caliber .45 pistol.

Hagosojos’ attackers also took his motorcycle. Regondola said it is too early to establish the motive behind the killing. — With Celso Amo
