A gym instructor was killed in a shootout with policemen who foiled his alleged attempt to kidnap a flight stewardess in Antipolo City on Monday.
Ramil Nicodemus, 29, of 7 Roxas Subdivision, Barangay Banaba, San Mateo, Rizal sustained gunshot wounds in the chest and head. He died on the spot.
Senior Superintendent Freddie Panen, Rizal PNP provincial director, said Nicodemus yielded a 9mm automatic pistol with three spent shells and a gun he used to abduct, Joana Ramos, 38, a flight stewardess of Cathay Pacific.
Panen said Ramos is presently in the state of shock and had refused to be interviewed.
Initial investigation showed that Ramos, a single parent, was a client of Nicodemus at a fitness gym in Quezon City. In one of her gym workouts, Ramos intimated to Nicodemus her wish to employ a housemaid to oversee the welfare of her child. Nicodemus assured Ramos that he knew of someone who may be interested in the job and volunteered to drive the latter to the residence of the applicant. Non Alquitran
