MALAYBALAY CITY A barangay road being built here may be stalled for some time as New Peoples Army rebels torched several equipment of the contractor Thursday night, the military said.
Lt. Col. Francisco Simbajon, spokesman of the Armys 4th Infantry Division, said 40 heavily armed guerrillas torched three dump trucks, a bulldozer, a road roller, a payloader and a motorcycle, all belonging to the Concepcion Basic Builders which was contracted to build the road in Barangay Zamboanguita.
Authorities said the attack could have been prompted by the companys refusal to pay "revolutionary taxes" to the NPAs Rexan Perez Command which operates in Northern Mindanao. Mike Baños
