Malaysian delivers aid to Guinsaugon

TACLOBAN CITY — A Malaysian C-130 cargo plane loaded with tons of assorted relief goods and houseware landed at the airport here Monday for yet another wave of humanitarian outreach for the survivors of the Feb. 17 massive landslide that wiped out Barangay Guinsaugon in Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte.

Wan Jaafar Wan Muhamud, charge d’affaires of the Malaysian embassy, led the Malaysian team in handing over the humanitarian assistance to Southern Leyte Gov. Rosette Lerias.

Also witnessing the turnover were Saint Bernard Mayor Maria Lim, San Juan Mayor Boy Mortera, Presidential Assistant for Eastern Visayas Vic Domingo, and Social Welfare and Development Undersecretary for Operations Celia Yangco.

"We are deeply touched by the excellent arrangement that had been made to ensure that our humanitarian mission here is memorable and successful," Muhamud said.

"We were deeply saddened to learn about the devastating landslide… We were horrified, and we share the pain of loss of loved ones," Muhamud added.
