2 dead, 1 hurt in scaffold collapse

TALISAY, Batangas — Two construction workers were killed while another laborer was critically injured when a 10-foot high steel scaffolding collapsed on them in Barangay Tranca here Friday morning, police said.

Superintendent Felix Sarsozo, Talisay police chief, said Benedicto Navales and Dionisio Torreon died on the spot, while Ricky Padilla was rushed to a hospital in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Police said the three workers were constructing a retaining wall at Lakeview Heights Midland when the soil eroded, causing the steel scaffolding to collapse. — Arnell Ozaeta
