CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan An engineer was caught in the act of receiving grease money in an entrapment operation inside the municipal building of Sta. Maria town Thursday afternoon, police said.
Superintendent Manny Lopez, Sta. Maria police chief, said Angelito Jacinto, who works in the municipal engineering office, was arrested on the complaint of Aurora Mateo, who was constructing a house at Sun Rays Subdivision in Barangay Guyong, Sta. Maria town.
Police said Mateo asked Jacinto for a permit for electrical connection, but the engineer instead asked for grease money, initially P25,000 but later lowered it to P23,000.
Asked if he would issue a receipt for the grease money, Jacinto allegedly told Mateo that she would get a "piece of paper."
Mateo promptly sought police assistance and Lopez laid out the entrapment.
Jacinto, who was arrested inside his office, now faces extortion charges. He might also be charged administratively.
