Homemade peanut butter downs 37 kids

COTABATO CITY — Thirty-seven grade schoolers in Parang, Maguindanao were hospitalized yesterday after they ate bread with homemade peanut butter sold in their school canteen.

The victims, all pupils of the Sarmiento Elementary School, complained of headache and painful abdominal spasms, prompting their principal, Fidelino Almiron, to rush them to the Cotabato Regional Medical Center here.

Some of the children were sent home after receiving oral antihistamines and intravenous fluids. — John Unson
