The belated report said that the vessel, Mt. Tambora, was owned by Coastwise Trading with homeport address at 1422F, Hererra St. Sta. Cruz Manila.
The vessel, which reportedly came from Del Pan in Binondo, Manila, was loaded with a still unknown volume of fuel oil and was bound for Lubang Island in Batangas.
While sailing somewhere along the maritime boundary of Batangas and Mariveles, Mt. Tambora was reported by a concerned citizen of Barangay Biaan, Mariveles, Bataan, as burning.
Immediately, the Mariveles police reported the matter to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Detachment in Barangay Sisiman, Mariveles town and the Philippine Coast Guard detachment in Barangay Lamao, Limay town.
A rescue team was dispatched for search and rescue operations but when the team reached the location of Mt. Tambora, the vessel has sunk.
Police said the vessel has six crewmembers on board identified as Capt. Paquito Abon, Engr. Alberto Monsaje, Jose Famillaran, Fernando Gonzales, Sixto Seastress and Ferdinand Manjares.
The said personnel were still missing as of yesterday as search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
