Korean exec escapes from would-be abductors

-
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna — A Korean business executive was able to outwit his would-be abductors who tried to snatch him while he on his way to play golf in Carmona, Cavite last Sunday morning, the police said.

Chief Superintendent Jesus Versoza, Region 4 police director, said the would-be victim, Moon Pyohong, 50, president of Best Chemical Plastic Philippines Inc. based in Carmona town, was en route to the Southwoods Golf and Country Club on board his Nissan Cefiro when two vans — an Isuzu Crosswind and a Pregio — blocked his path along Southwoods Drive in Barangay Kabilang Baybay, Carmona.

Three men, all clad in police uniforms, alighted from the vans and at gunpoint, ordered Moon to ride in one of their vehicles.

When Moon resisted, one of them hit him on the head with a pistol, causing a commotion just a few hundred meters away from the golf club’s gate.

Although wounded, Moon managed to run toward the club’s security outpost to seek help, forcing the armed men to flee.

The club’s security personnel and bystanders rushed Moon to the Asian Hospital in Alabang, Muntinlupa for a cut on the head and several bruises on different parts of the body.
