CEBU Whats the deal with karaoke bars? If you sing badly, they will hate you. If you sing well, you still end up being hated.
This was what happened to a man who went to a karaoke bar in Naga town last Monday night to have fun with his two friends, but was later stabbed dead by one of them.
The police said the victim, Arjay Bacus, 22, had a drinking spree with the suspect, Norberto Tukayan, 23, and another neighbor, Bonifacio Santiar, at the Merlies karaoke bar in Barangay Uling.
The three were already drunk when it was Bacus turn to sing. A decent round of applause capped his performance.
Then came Tukayans turn to sing, which instead drew heckles and boos from the customers of the karaoke bar.
Tukayan got mad and left the karaoke bar. He returned a few minutes later, armed with a hunting knife, and stabbed Bacus several times, killing him on the spot.
Tukayan hastily fled, eluding arrest by the customers of the karaoke bar and barangay tanods. Freeman News Service
