At least 60 people, mostly children, suffered from vomiting and bum stomachs after eating spaghetti at a birthday party in their neighborhood in Antipolo City last Tuesday, authorities said.
The police said 25 residents of Sitio Broadway in Barangay De la Paz, 20 of them aged two to 10, were rushed to the Antipolo City District Hospital.
Nurse Jing San Juan said the victims started being rushed to the hospital at 8 p.m. Tuesday, some four hours after they had attended a childrens party in their barangay.
"Parang panis na daw ang kinain nila at may amoy na medyo maasim (What they ate tasted spoiled and smelled somewhat sour)," San Juan quoted the victims as saying.
The victims were sent home after getting proper treatment.
According to the city health office, the rest of the 60 victims opted not to be brought to the hospital.
