Woman suspected of being a witch killed

URBIZTONDO, Pangasinan — A widow suspected of being a witch was hacked to death inside her house in Barangay Poblacion here last Monday night, the police said.

P03 Dante Pascua told The STAR that the victim, Norma Matabang, 58, was slicing some vegetables for supper when she was hacked in the neck, killing her instantly.

In his investigation, SP04 Eduardo Fernandez, the officer on case, found out that Matabang was suspected of being a witch.

The police are still trying to establish the real motive for the killing. The woman’s attacker fled with the murder weapon. — Eva Visperas
