‘Don’t be fooled by drawless jueteng’

MANAOAG, Pangasinan — Stop betting your money so you will not be fooled.

This was the advice of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Arturo Lomibao to jueteng bettors amid the existence of "drawless" jueteng, which Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward Hagedorn, the government’s former anti-jueteng czar, had exposed.

Under the "drawless" jueteng, bettors have no hope of winning at all because their money is simply collected and pocketed by collectors.

Thus, Lomibao said the people should stop placing bets since this tactic of displaced jueteng operators is "estafa" per se.

"Ang tawag doon ay
estafa kasi nangongolekta ng taya pero walang draw (You call that estafa because bets are collected but there is no draw)," he said.

"Wag nang tumaya. Tataya ka nga, wala ka namang panalo, di estafa talaga yon (Don’t bet. You place a bet but you don’t have any chance of winning. That’s really estafa)," he added.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent Alan Purisima, Pangasinan police director, said the province remains jueteng-free.

"I am willing to be relieved from my post if jueteng has resurged in Pangasinan," he said.
