A police lieutenent colonel and a police major were shot dead yesterday morning by a rookie policeman who was disgruntled over his reassignment from the Lumbia airport in Cagayan de Oro City to a far-flung area.

"This is a very unfortunate incident, which I would like investigated right away," Philippine National Police chief Director General Arturo Lomibao told Chief Superintendent Andy Caro, head of the PNP Aviation Security Group.

Slain were Superintendent Loreno Vicente and Chief Inspector Hadji Ali, heads of the 10th Police Center for Aviation Security and the police station at the Lumbia airport, respectively. Both were shot in the head.
