Dagupan still jueteng-free

DAGUPAN CITY This city, the center of business and education in Northern Luzon, remains jueteng-free, the city police chief told the city council the other day.
Superintendent Edgar Basbas, who was invited to report on the citys peace and order situation, said no less than Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz, the countrys top anti-jueteng crusader, has certified this.
Basbas said they are closely monitoring other forms of illegal gambling, saying that some people have shifted to monte, a card game, and hataw, a poor mans casino game. Eva Visperas
