Contractor arrested for illegal possession of firearms

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna A 45-year-old contractor was arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group with their flagship project "Oplan Paglalansag Omega" when seized from him were two firearms and rounds of ammunition in his house at Imus, Cavite yesterday morning, police said.
Superintendent Flaviano Baltazar, CIDG Deputy Region IV chief identified the suspect as Luisito Martal, resident of No. 2 Gondola Road, corner Vinta St. Regatta Classic Subd, Brgy. Anabu II-B, Imus Cavite.
Reports said that at around 7:30 a.m., joint elements of the Cavite CIDG and Cavite Police Provincial Office led by SPO4 Juanito Quitquitan conducted a search at the suspects house by virtue of a warrant issued by Judge Cesar Magrobang of RTC Branch 22, Imus, Cavite.
The search stemmed after a complaint filed by a certain Vergel Ebreo against Martal for allegedly maltreating and threatening him.
Martal was charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition when he failed to present the necessary documents.
Seized from him were a caliber .45 pistol, one M-16 Armalite rifle, one-magazine for a caliber .45, seven live ammos for caliber .45, three-magazines for an M-16, one-short magazine for an M-16 and 35-rounds of live ammos for an M-16 rifle. Arnell Ozaeta
