B’gay exec, drunk killed in shootout

CAMP VICENTE LIM, La—guna — An attempt by a ba—rangay councilman to pacify two drunks who had fired a gun indiscriminately in Occi—dental Mindoro last Friday night resulted in a shootout that left two of them dead and the other wounded, the police said.

Reports reaching this police camp said businessman Alberto Balmes, 34, councilman of Barangay Caminawit, San Jose town, accosted Rebelito Bocalan and Roberto Serrano, who were both drunk, for firing a caliber .45 pistol.

During a verbal tussle, Balmes fired his gun, fatally hitting Bocalan. Serrano managed to fire back, killing the councilman. — Ed Amoroso
