Local executives speak up
July 5, 2005 | 12:00am
Local executives outside Metro Manila were outraged by the attention given by the national media on street protests and criticisms against President Arroyo while reportedly neglecting to give equal and prominent space to sentiments of local executives and non-government organizations in favor of the status quo.
League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) national president Ramon Guico, mayor of Binalonan, Pangasinan, said in a statement that public discontent with the Arroyo administration is confined only to certain areas in Metro Manila.
"Why must the Philippines suffer because Metro Manila is dissatisfied with our incumbent President? This is imperialism at its worst," LMP officials added.
