ILOILO CITY Police have ruled out robbery in last Wednesdays killing of Aklans schools division superintendent in a resort here.
Senior Superintendent Norlito Bautista, city police chief, told The STAR that the assailant of 58-year-old Arthur Juada appeared to be very angry at the Department of Education official based on the number of stab wounds inflicted on the victim.
"The assailant might have had an ax to grind against Juada," Bautista said. "We have ruled out robbery as the motive."
A roomboy of the Punta Villa Resort discovered the bloodied and naked body of Juada last Wednesday morning.
Juada had 93 stab wounds in different parts of the body, although the police said only 15 of them were fatal and the rest were "defense wounds."
Police have yet to recover the murder weapon.
Bautista said Juada apparently knew his assailant since there were no signs of forced entry in Room 216 which the victim occupied.
Bautista did not set a deadline for the investigation. "I just want (the investigators) to exert everything so we can arrest the perpetrator and give justice to Dr. Juada and his family," he said.
