Vigan offers reward for unsolved killings

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur — To maintain its image as a peaceful city, the City Council here has allocated a P250,000 cash reward for those who can provide information leading to the solution of five unsolved killings here recently.

This was announced by Mayor Ferdinand Medina, who said that tipsters’ identities will be kept secret to protect them from possible harassment from the suspected criminals.

"We cannot afford to ignore these five unsolved killings as this might taint the city’s good image," Medina said.

The mayor appealed to the public to help the police solve the killings.

The victims of summary executions include Aniceto Llanes, Edgardo Fallet, Werner Ragasa and Glicerio Empleo. None of the suspects have yet to be arrested by the police, raising suspicion that the victims were killed by hired assassins.

Llanes was killed by suspected hired killers in broad daylight last month as he was walking alone in the city’s public market.

Medina assured, however, that Vigan City is still generally peaceful and everybody can walk and roam around even late at night. Myds Supnad
