Korean exec shot dead in Cavite

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna — Three unidentified armed men shot dead a Korean executive of an electronics firm and carted away P3 million in payroll money during a highway robbery along a national highway in Kawit, Cavite on Monday afternoon.

Chief Superintendent Jesus Verzosa, Calabarzon regional director, said the victim, Seok Soo Lee, vice president of Keyrin Electronics Inc., was declared dead on arrival at the General Trias Pediatric and Maternity Hospital.

Verzosa said the victim was on board his Nissan Cefiro, with license plate XNX-617, with his bodyguard-driver, Ericson Dimaandal, when a motorcycle sideswiped the right side mirror of the vehicle as it approached the Binakayan-Tejeros Bypass road in Barangay Marujas.

When Dimaandal alighted from the car to check what happened, the two robbers immediately announced a holdup.

A third suspect suddenly appeared and ordered Lee to hand them his attaché case containing the money.

Lee was shot by one of the suspects when he refused to give the attache case.

Police said all three suspects were armed with short pistols and also took the wallet of Dimaandal. After the robbery, they commandeered a tangerine Toyata Corolla, with license plate PBX-417, owned by a certain Tiburcio Bangiban of Muntinlupa City and sped towards Tanza town. — With Arnell Ozaeta
