Pregnant woman hit by stray bullet dies

MASANTOL, Pampanga — A 27-year-old pregnant woman hit by a stray bullet fired by the assailants of this town mayor’s chief security adviser died a few hours after the attack last Monday morning.

Mayor Peter Flores said the woman, Cheche Alba-Jordan, who was six months’ pregnant, died from a gunshot wound in the abdomen.

Flores said Jordan was apparently kissing the hand of his chief security adviser, Ignacio Viray, who was her wedding godfather, when the three young-looking gunmen struck.

Viray was walking in the municipal market where his wife runs a beauty parlor when he was shot in the head, chest and abdomen.

Flores said probers believe that the gunmen were professional killers as evidenced by their firearms: a caliber .45 pistol, a 9-mm and an Uzi rifle. — Ding Cervantes
