Jueteng raid: 2 dead in stampede

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga Two persons reportedly died in a stampede during a police raid on a jueteng den in Central Luzon, Chief Superintendent Rowland Albano, regional police director, said yesterday.
Albano, however, could not provide details about the incident which supposedly happened in Zambales or Pampanga.
However, Senior Superintendent Leonardo Espina, Pampanga police chief, said he was not aware of such an incident.
His Zambales counterpart, Senior Superintendent Arazad Subong, said a jueteng den was raided in Subic town but that no one was hurt there.
Local reporters suspect that police were keeping mum about the incident to avoid more controversies which have hounded the jueteng issue these days. Ding Cervantes
